Set up your service

Set up your service

When you first log in to your Nest Administrative Website, it will take you to the ‘Set up your service’ page.

Simply follow the prompts by selecting the first option. To the right you will see a ‘Set up tab’ click this and it will automatically take you to that section on the admin where you enter your service information.

Continue with this process until you are satisfied with your data entry. You can come back to it at any stage and complete sections when you are able to.

We advise you to set up the whole service at the start to ensure all the data is ready for you to access and use the Nest App.

Children

Children

This is where you can manage details about your children. You can filter the list by room, for example on this page you will see the title ‘Kinder Room’ and to the right there is a little triangle, click this and it will open a drop box with all rooms in your service. Your rooms are determined by you in the initial ‘set up your service’ process.

You can also search for children by entering their name, age and other details. To ‘Add a child’ to your service, click the Add Child Tab or to ‘Archive’ a child, click Archive.

To view a child’s portfolio, simply select the child’s name and it will open up their profile page showing you their personal information, additional bio Information, all observations taken of that child, all photographs of that child, family contacts and permissions.

Contacts

Contacts

This is where you manage each child’s contacts. Each child’s name will appear in this list. To quickly view a child’s contacts, enter the child’s name in the blank search tab at the top right and it will take you directly to that child’s contacts. Select the blue ‘Add Contact’ tab to add a childs contacts.

To reset a family’s password or re-invite a family member to receive notifications, select the blue ‘Add Contacts’ tab, enter the persons name or the child’s name at the bottom, select the person and select save.

Observations

Observations

This is where you can manage each of the observations in your service. You can filter by 'your' observations or see everyones. You can also search for observations by title, author, room, status and date created.

Add Observation – will enable you to write a new observation via the admin, this will automatically then appear on the Nest App.

To view an observation from the list - simply select the title or search for the one you are looking for and view. This is where you can ‘edit the observation, save, print, share with families electronically and the option to comment or respond to a families comment here too. Once shared, it will then appear in the parents digital view.

Experiences

Educational Experiences

This is where you can manage each of the Educational Experiences in your service. You can filter by 'your' experiences or see everyones. You can also search for experience by title, observation, author, room, curriculum and status.

To view an experience, simply select the title and it will automatically open it up to view, edit, print. Make sure if you edit anything you then select ‘save’. This will automatically save on the App too.

You also have the option here to select the ‘Complete and add to program’ blue tab which will take the Educational Experience into your Educational Program for you.

Programs

Educational Program

This is where you can manage the Educational Program in your service. You can filter by 'your' Educational Program (view all experiences) or see everyones. You can also search for an experience by title, experience, author, room, curriculum and status.

To view an experience, simply select the title and it will automatically open it up to view, edit, print. Make sure if you edit anything you then select ‘save’. This will automatically save on the App too.

Collages

Collages

This is where you can manage each of the Collages in your service. You can filter by 'your' collages or see everyones. You can also search for collage by title, author, room and date created.

To view a collage, simply select the title or search for the one you want.

To share a collage, open the collage you want as above, and there is a blue ‘Share’ Tab at the top.

Left of screen – you will notice a smaller photo of your collage, to view simply click the photograph and it will enlarge. To close, click the little white x at the top right corner of the photograph.

Download collage image – this will download the collage for you to view and yo can select to print from here.

Staff

Staff Profiles / Reflective Journals

This is where you can manage each of the staff in your service. You can search for staff by name, position and room and.

Add Staff - by selecting the blue Add Staff tab on the top left. Enter their information, select a nominated room and click ‘save’.

You can also view staff Reflective Journals by clicking on the staff members name and scrolling down to the Reflective Journals section of their staff profile.

Observation Summary

Observation Summary

Select the room, framework and the dates you wish to report between, then press the blue ‘Apply Filter tab to update and view the information.

This will show you a list of the children within that room and how frequently you have observed them in each outcome/unit. You can therefor take note of where children have not yet been observed.

Reflective Questions

Reflective Questions

This is where you can manage each of the Reflective Question Categories in your service. By default NEST has provided you with reflective practice questions, direct from the National Quality Standards.

If you have your own unique categories and questions then you can ‘Add Category’ which will give you the opportunity to enter and save your own unique reflective questions for your service.

If you are a service provider that wishes to have reflective quesitons added for you, then please contact Chelsie via phone or email [email protected] to request. An administrative fee will apply for the data entry and you will need to supply a link for the questions you want included.

Curriculum

Curriculum

Nest recommends a minimum of two curriculum areas and a maximum of nine. These appear in your Educational Program.

If you are a Family Day Care Educator you may simply wish to choose an Indoor and an Outdoor curriculum, if you are in a kinder you may like to do similar or set your curriculum up by the various play types for example; Dramatic Play, Construction, Physically Active Play etc.

It is completely up to your service organistation and should reflect your philosophy and school policy.

Frameworks

Frameworks

You can simply select one or more of the ‘blue tabs ‘available for example;

  • Add EYLF
  • Add MTOP
  • Add ACARA (Foundation - Y6)

If you have your own unique curriculum for example Montessori, Steiner influence then you can ‘Add Framework’ which will give you the opportunity to enter and save your own unique curriculum for your service.
